On Friday, Bangladesh beat Ireland by 22 runs in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a total of 173/7 in their 20 overs. Opener Liton Das top-scored with a brilliant knock of 73 runs off just 44 balls. He was well supported by skipper Mahmudullah who scored a quickfire 33 off just 18 balls. For Ireland, Boyd Rankin was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/30 in his four overs.
In reply, Ireland were restricted to 151/9 in their 20 overs. Paul Stirling top-scored with a valiant knock of 51 runs off just 33 balls. He was well supported by Kevin O’Brien who scored a quickfire 33 off just 18 balls. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/30 in his four overs.
With this win, Bangladesh have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The second T20I will be played on Sunday at the same venue.
