Barcelona VP confirms Lionel Messi transfer talks as PSG contract winds down

Barcelona vice president Jordi Cardoner has confirmed that the club is in talks with Lionel Messi over a potential transfer as the Argentine’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain winds down.

Messi, who has been with PSG since 2018, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Cardoner, speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, said: “We are in talks with Messi and his representatives. We are trying to find a solution that is beneficial for both parties.”

He added: “We are confident that we can reach an agreement that will be beneficial for both parties. We are working hard to make sure that Messi stays at Barcelona.”

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from PSG since the start of the season, with reports suggesting that he is keen to return to his former club.

Messi has been a key player for PSG, scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists in all competitions this season.

The Argentine has been linked with a move to Barcelona for some time, and it appears that the two clubs are now in talks over a potential transfer.

Cardoner’s comments suggest that Barcelona are confident of reaching an agreement with Messi, and it remains to be seen if the Argentine will make the move back to his former club.
